A Visit with Val

My sister was in town this week and we decided to attempt the impossible - get pictures of all the kids. Yes - all smiling, all in 1 photo.
we started with just sitting in a chair...

That didn't work so well...
So we tried to take pics of each of the two kids,

That didn't work...
Finally, we smartened up - and went professional....

I guess there's a reason why they're professionals...

Ava's walking!

Finally, Ava has taken her first steps..actually this video is of her 4th thru 9th step, but close enough!
Going to have to start thinking of the next level of baby proofing! But at least the grass stains from crawling in the grass will diminish (hopefully!!)

To Market, To Market to Buy a Fat Pig

Its Easter season, which means a trip to the Broadway Market (I need to go there more often, such a great place!)

Audrey, Ava, my mom and I had a good time checking out all the goods available at the market and visiting with the Easter Bunny. Audrey was quick to point out that there was a man inside the Easter Bunny, but somehow that was ok and it was still THE easter bunny..how gullible they are at that age - its great! I never would've had an answer to why the man was it there!

Suprisingly, Ava was even ok sitting on the bunny. I couldn't get her to smile, but she didn't cry, she just looked around at everyone like we were all crazy!
We even got a visit with Skittles the clown who painted Audrey's face. Ava wanted to grab the paint off Audrey's face - she kept pointing at Audrey wanting her to come near her.
This weekend is our annual egg hunt for the kids - can't wait to see them running around looking for the eggs! Maybe I'll even blog more than once this month!

Trouble

So this morning as I was doing the dishes, Audrey asked me to please go downstairs. When I asked her why, she responded "because I want to do something I'm not supposed to do."
Well at least I know she knows when she's doing something wrong!

Its 2010!

So now I officially have a follower (thanks Marg!) - hopefully that will be the kick I need to keep this updated, because I really do want to keep a nice record of how fast the kids are growing. I know I'm not taking the time to enjoy each moment now and I need to remember it for later when I miss this!

Anyway, Christmas has gone and went. Both girls got way too much stuff, but had a wonderful time. We were fortunate enough to entertain our friends and familes several times over the holidays and I'm beginning to think I have a little baker on my hands. No matter how trying she can be, Audrey really tries to buckle down and pay attention when it comes to cooking. She loves cooking and helping mommy. I really enjoy that time we have together and hope it becomes a tradition my entire life.

Ava is on the fast track to mobility. By the first of December, she was getting up on all fours and able to push herself around, but only backwards. By Christmas she had the army crawl under wraps and was slowly getting to the toys and things she wanted. And just after New Year's she officially crawled. Its a slow crawl and she still only goes a couple of feet so I haven't had to put up all the baby gates yet, but my time is definitely up! Before I know it, I'm going to be having to watch every step she makes to keep her out of trouble.

Christmas Card

So, its after Thanksgiving - time to get the girls to pose into a cute little picture for our Christmas Card. Sounds easy, right?

First, had to set the scene - clean the fireplace area all up. Then, we (ok, it was me) decided it was too bright and that we needed to wait till evening. soo, wait till evening, clean the fireplace all up again. Get the girls dressed (no easy feat convincing either girl to sit still while we contort them into tights). Brush Audrey's hair and spray it down. Audrey gets ahold of the spray, sprays her hand and wipes it on her dress. Take the dress off, clean it and try again...

Go through at least 3 billion pictures, convincing both girls to sit where we tell them to sit, smile and look at the camera. Exhausting..

But, in the end, we got some nice pictures...

A new start

I started a blog a while ago with the idea that I would write down all the great things that the girls say. But, I feel like I missing out on taking note to all the other great stuff they're doing. Ava's not even talking yet (well, nothing I understand yet), so how was I supposed to write about her?
Anyway, so I'm starting new...someday, I'll figure out how to re-post the posts that were on that blog.
